about

This project exploring the depth of tonality began in 2018 as a quarterly listening event to celebrate the solstice and equinox. The music became a merging with the changing light, and the transformation of changing seasons. We came together with intimate gatherings of 20-50 people in living rooms, and in the summer outdoors on a beautiful field during sunset (how we always lucked out on weather is a miracle). In our solstice/equinox crew was the trailblazing natural doctor and medicine woman @drkellyjennings who graced us with Tanpura and the soulful music loving great friend @aileenguraljewelry Aileen Gural. We were often blessed to be joined by tabla artist @mir_tabla Mir Naqibul Islam
We have come full circle and recorded this music to share with eternity! The recording features Steve Gorn, Eric Fraser, and Timothy Hill, plunging into the timeless musical form of Alap in a progressive and creative approach.
This project is about Diving into Sonic Awareness and Exploring the Depth of Tonality. We are pulling back from performance to experience the expansiveness of time and Space. Felt as much as heard.
